Chest of Drawers

I am lucky to know some very good timber suppliers who patiently let me sift through their stacks of timber. This was very important for this piece which needed some really pretty rays in the quarter sawn oak. Care was taken to find boards from the same tree so that the colour was the same through out and the grain flowed from one drawer to another.

The inspiration came partly from furniture of the arts and crafts movement, which has simplicity of design and satisfying proportions.

Like all my work it was great to let the client see all the stages of the project, both David and Hannah have a good eye and appreciated the details. The drawers were dovetailed, with cedar bottoms.
